"I'm absolutely delighted," said caretaker boss Carver.
"Going into the game against a side who are top of the league, full of confidence, only lost one game all season, to get off to a great start with a fantastic finish from David Healy, I'm absolutely delighted.
"I've made it my intention what I want to do and I think I've got off to a half-decent start, but I have to say it wasn't just about me. I've got fantastic staff behind me and this week they've been brilliant.
"If they continue to support me the way they have done, along with the players then who knows what's going to happen.
"But it's only one game, one swallow doesn't make a summer, but I'm looking forward to the West Brom game now.
"I've come from a culture of entertaining football from the Keegan days and recently with Sir Bobby (Robson)," added Carver.
"That's the sort of football I've been brought up on and that's the type of football I intend to play.
"The most important thing was, yes we got a good performance, but the three points were crucial in this situation.
"That will be the same when we go to West Brom in a week. If our players can't take confidence from that today then we're all wasting our time."
