Cresswell says in the Yorkshire Post : "I don't remember us being in the play-offs last time (against Charlton in 1987) because I was so young. But I have played in the final twice before so know what it will be like. Maybe it will be a lucky omen I am not playing because I lost both of them (with Preston). That is a positive to take out of it.
"I had mixed emotions when I came off the pitch at Preston. It was fantastic we were through, but disappointing I would not be playing. We are so close to the Premiership now and I will be right behind the lads all the way. I will be watching from the stand like any other fan.
"It does mean more because I am a fan, which is basically what I will be in Cardiff now. I am from the area and know what it means to the Leeds fans to get back into the Premiership.
"I had a lot of family and friends in the away end at Deepdale and the support was fantastic. I cannot thank the fans enough for how they have been with me, even though I have been injured.
"The reaction when I came back in the first leg against Preston (after three months out injured) was brilliant. And a night like Preston justifies my decision to join Leeds.
"I will be behind the lads all the way, though. I want to play in the Premiership and so do all the lads."
