Whites head coach David Hockaday has been looking to strengthen his squad all week following a disappointing opening day defeat to Millwall and looks set to add the 24-year-old to the signings of Billy Sharp, Liam Cooper and Giuseppe Bellusci earlier in the week.
Agard, who scored 26 goals for the Millers as they won promotion to the Championship after beating Leyton Orient in the League 1 play-off final, has refused to sign a new contract at the New York Stadium.
Leeds have already added three strikers this summer after the arrivals of Billy Sharp, Nicky Ajose and Souleymane Doukara, but clearly are trying to add even more attackers to their squad before the window closes.
The 24-year-old would become Leeds’ 11th signing of the close season, as they look to mount a push for the play-off positions this campaign.
If Agard joins it will surely mean Leeds will have to sell one of their current strikers with Dominic Poleon, Noel Hunt, Steve Morison or Matt Smith the most likely to leave.
