The 18-year-old, who can also play in defence, has been released by the Whites after coming through the club's academy.
He is the Glanford Park side's fourth summer signing.
The League One club have also added defender Scott Wiseman and midfielder Jack King from Preston, and Rochdale midfielder Stephen Dawson.
