Birch said: "Yes, it's true we are exploring every option and the possibility is that one day in the future the site will be redeveloped.
"We need to have a new stadium, whether it's at Elland Road or elsewhere, to have the revenue needed to compete at the highest level. It's a simple fact of life in the Premiership.
"Redevelopment for the stadium will, at some stage, be the goal but it's a long way down the line. I think it will happen.
"It's in a prime industrial area and would be an ideal site for somewhere like an Asda. It's worth a great deal of money."
Birch also denied claims that Eddie Gray will step down as caretaker boss.
