"England went into the last World Cup with what people were saying was a poor set-up and on the back of a couple of poor warm-up results," said the Whites boss in the Yorkshire Evening Post. "Yet we went on to reach the quarter-finals against Brazil in a game which we could have won. You can't ever write England off.
"It's going to be very warm out there and the players won't be used to playing in such immense heat, but it's something they have to be prepared for," he added. "England are capable of doing well but I would look at the likes of Spain, Portugal or France as the real favourites for the tournament."
