The Whites loyal followers will have only the best of the Bosmans to applaud in Division One next season.
Spelling out the culture shock awaiting Leeds fans, he also set his first target as United's new manager - avoiding another relegation!
Speaking in the Sunday People, he said: "We could be looking at relegation again if we're not careful. It will be a difficult season for us. Look at what's happened to Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford.
"Look at the struggle Nottingham Forest and Coventry have had. We have to learn from those clubs and make sure relegation doesn't happen again. Of course, I know how big this club is and the expectations that surround it but we have to be realistic."
Blackwell has fought against spouting the cliched optimism expected of all new bosses and refuses to talk up hopes of a quick return to the Premiership.
If this disappoints the Leeds following accustomed to bigger things, then the former professional goalkeeper reckons they'll need a reality check pretty soon.
"I've played more games than people like Arsene Wenger and Gerard Houllier," added Blackwell. "I might not be a big name but a big name didn't save Leeds from relegation.
"I've got no money at all, only what I raise. I'll be signing players on wages only - Bosmans. There will be zero fees."
Despite all this he still relishes the massive challenge ahead. He concluded: "This job is possibly a poisoned chalice. But it was one I had to pick up. I've worked a long time to get to this level. I feel fate has dealt me this hand."
