The Whites will move onto 74 points if they win tonight, a total which has been enough to guarantee play-off participation in recent years but, more significantly, they will also move to within one point of second-placed Sheffield United and automatic promotion.
Blackwell said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Tonight is our toughest game of the season but only because it's our next hurdle. My message to the players is that if we win it, it should be enough to guarantee us a place in the play-offs. That is the most important thing at this stage.
"We've worked hard to get where we are and we have to make that count. I'm not interested in where else it takes us right now, if we win our games and look after ourselves everything else will be taken care of. There's eight games to play and we will treat them all individually."
The format for the play-offs has been established, with Sky showing all the games live. One of the matches will be on Friday, May 5, with the other the following day and the return legs will be on Monday, May 8 and Tuesday, May 9.
Clubs finishing in fifth and sixth positions will be at home first, with the third and fourth placed finishers at home on the later dates.
