"I've not played that much since I came here and I picked up an injury at a bad time, but this is a chance for me to prove I deserve a contract in the summer.
"I'm a free agent at the end of the season, but I want to stay at Newcastle, that's my main priority at the moment.
"Everybody knows that I'm desperate to stay here and there is perhaps an opportunity to prove that I have a part to play here."
