Leeds United were beaten 3-0 by Turkish club Bursaspor in a last-minute friendly staged in Italy last night.

Thomas Christiansen’s side travelled south over the Austrian border to the Italian town of Natz-Schabs after Bursaspor agreed to a training game in the wake of the cancellation of Leeds’ clash with Ingolstadt on Sunday.

The refusal of the authorities in the Austrian town of Kufstein to host the game against Ingolstadt left United without a match until Thursday’s meeting with Borussia Monchengladbach but Leeds negotiated a game against Bursaspor at short notice after being asked by Christiansen to find a replacement.

Bursaspor, who finished two points above the Turkish Super Lig’s relegation zone last season, opened the scoring in the 11th minute through William Troost-Ekong’s header.

Stuart Dallas saw an early effort ruled out for offside and Leeds missed other chances before Tomas Necid doubled Bursaspor’s lead on 63 minutes.

A late Sinan Bakis goal effort sealed the result.

Chris Wood made his first appearance of the summer during the opening 45 minutes while new signings Caleb Ekuban and Samuel Saiz were given run-outs in the second by Christiansen.

United (first half): Silvestri, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Berardi, Dallas, O’Kane, Phillips, Roofe, Hernandez, Wood.

United (second half): Silvestri, Gomes, Cooper, Shaughnessy, Anita, Allioski, Bridcutt, Saiz, Antonsson, Doukara, Ekuban.
