They both played together at Oldham and Darlington in pre-season and Carlisle says working alongside Radebe at the back has been a tremendous experience.
Carlisle said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I can learn lots from playing alongside Lucas. He's a great man and he's still a very good defender. He talks to me and he kept me on my toes in the games we've played together."
The 24-year-old former Blackpool and QPR defender has started 178 league games and Radebe has started just one more match in English football but Carlisle reckons The Chief is a great teacher.
"It doesn't matter how many games you have played," added Carlisle. "You can always learn more from someone who is an experienced defender, particularly someone like Lucas who has spent all his career at the top level. I played in a back three at Darlington which was fairly new to me, but it was good to listen to Lucas and pick up some pointers."
