Club deny Fowler setback claims

United officials are more than happy with the progress that Fowler is making and have confirmed that he was never expected to return for Saturday's game against his former club Liverpool at Elland Road, despite reports stating this was the case.

Fowler had to fly home from United's pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East because of the hip injury initially picked up at the end of last season in the game with Derby.

He has been undergoing treatment on the injury, is stepping up his levels of training and manager Terry Venables is delighted with his progress.
