Deane scored 38 goals in 171 appearances for Leeds between 1993 and 1997 after signing from Sheffield United.
The Leeds-born frontman returned to The Blades before playing for Benfica, Middlesbrough, Leicester and West Ham, who released him at the end of last season.
Hignett is a proven forward with a wealth of experience and both players have been training with United this week.
Guppy is available on a Bosman free after joining Leicester in January for a second spell and could be brought in to fill the vacant left-wing position.
The trio will all be looking to impress at the club's base just inside the Arctic circle when they play two games against local Swedish opposition.
