With one of the strikers they have been much linked with apparently poised to join Glasgow Celtic, the former Blackburn Rovers forward Matt Derbyshire joined Olympiakos in June 2009 and has proved popular with the fans by helping the club win the Greek Cup and also scoring the winner against arch-rivals Panathinaikos.
However, it appears the 24-year-old has fallen out of favour with new coach Ewald Lienen. The former 1860 Munich manager has preferred the pairing of Diogo and Kostas Mitroglou for most of the club's pre-season matches, and Goal.com report that Lienen may even have sounded out the Greek club's board about making Derbyshire available for transfer.
Simon Grayson has been linked with all sorts of strikers throughout the summer, including the seemingly Celtic-bound Gary Hooper and Middlesbrough's Leroy Lita, but the arrival of Derbyshire could trump the lot.
