Dennis Wise has said Derry needs to regain his match fitness out on loan rather than at Elland Road.
Derry, 29, told BBC Radio Leeds: "I would love to stay at the club but I don't know if the manager wants to keep me or not."
Derry has made 78 appearances for the Whites since his arrival in February 2005 and has one year left on his contract.
