Leeds fans are ready to give former favourite Kewell a reception from hell if he makes his first return to Elland Road following last summer’s controversial move to Liverpool.
He was branded a mercenary and deserter by the supporters, who are still furious Leeds ended up getting just £2m of the £5m he cost the Anfield giants.
John Boocock, chairman of Leeds Supporters’ Trust, said: "Kewell is a mercenary and this will not be forgotten by our supporters.
"I know he has an injury and might not play but, to be honest, it might be best anyway if he stays in the treatment room instead of coming back to Elland Road."
Kewell would have been ruled out of last Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round replay defeat at Portsmouth by suspension anyway.
But he is set to play in Liverpool’s UEFA Cup third-round, first-leg clash at home to Levski Sofia tonight.
Boocock added: "He says he always had a good relationship with Leeds fans but, if that is the case, then why did he treat our club like he did?"
