It is 37 years exactly to the day that Gray first pulled on a Leeds United shirt.
Gray said in the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I never thought I'd still be involved with Leeds United after all these years.
"I first came down here on May 1st 1963 and I'm still here.
"It seems a long, long time ago now that I first played for the club and you don't think for one minute that you will still be around all these years later.
"But Leeds United have been a big part of my life. I've been involved in many capacities and I've enjoyed being associated with the club.
"It is a great football club no matter what anyone says and I'm pleased and proud that I'm still here and doing what I'm doing."
He made his debut as a 17-year-old against Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road on New Year's Day in 1966 and he sealed a 3-0 victory by scoring his first ever goal for The Whites.
He added: "I was only young and I remember being pulled to one side and being told 'you're playing tomorrow'.
"I wasn't nervous or anything like that because I had faith in my ability.
"I knew there were some great players in that side, but that didn't bother me. I just wanted to play.
"I was playing in the old wing-half position and scored my first goal.
"It was nothing special, just a shot, but it was a nice way to start."
