He told BBC Radio Leeds: "Every coach talks about having effort and determination but you also need quality in certain areas and we are lacking that.
"When you are 2-0 down on the cameras, that's when you find out who your men are and some went missing."
He added: "This club has a history that says it demands a future. What I said to the players is they will dictate if they are part of the future or they quite quickly become part of the history.
"It's fair to say that some of the players aren't equipped to play here. The table does not lie after 12 or 13 matches."
