The Scottish Football Association attend to meet next week to consider all possibilties to take-over from Smith, who left the position to re-join Glasgow Rangers as their manager last week.
Other names on the list are reported to be Tommy Burns, Alex McLeish and ex-Leeds midfielder Gary McAllister.
