Reid has confessed Leeds and Palace's valuation of the winger are totally different. Gray arrived at Selhurst Park for £500k from Arsenal three years ago.
Gray is out of contract at Palace but as he is just 23 the First Division club have the right to claim compensation should he leave - and Leeds are unwilling to meet their asking price.
Reid told the club's official website: "I think we might be struggling on that one, it looks as if it won't go through.
"The clubs are negotiating and if you can't come to an agreement you can't blame anyone. They have a valuation of the player and we have ours."
Mind you if he was any good surely more clubs would be showing some interest not just Leeds.
Are they better off just not bothering?
