Under the terms of Viduka's current deal, Leeds had been paying £20k a week to a company called On The Ball. In return, the company are contracted to scout for the club for players in his native Australia and the rest of Oceania.
However, the company has yet to find a single player who has joined Leeds and former chairman and chief executive Trevor Birch halted the payments at the start of November. Birch had been in negotiations to pay back the £450k arrears but this has not been confirmed by chairman Gerald Krasner.
Gray denied reports of a row with Viduka insisting that the latest story, in the soap that is Leeds United, would not affect preparations for Sunday morning's clash with Portsmouth, which the striker misses through suspension.
Gray said: "I am disappointed about some of the stories about Mark Viduka falling out with the club over money and going on strike. Mark has been terrific for us and it is unfortunate that he is suspended for this game which is a big blow because he is a big player for us.
"I don't know where all the rubbish like that came from and the players are rightly disappointed with the comments.
Gray added: "There's no doubt that it is a huge game for us and we are getting to the stage where we are desperate for points. We are playing against a side who we could draw a little bit closer to so hopefully we can pick the points up. We know if we don't pick them up we'll be in big trouble."
