After seven fruitless months at Elland Road, Morris left the club on Saturday following the termination of his contract by mutual consent.
Signed by former Leeds boss Peter Reid last summer on a free from Chelsea, Morris failed to make any impression under Gray and now finds himself a free agent again.
Gray, though, has wished the 25-year-old well as he told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "I'm disappointed for Jody because things haven't worked out for him.
"He's a keen lad who wants to do well and hopefully he will pick his career up somewhere else. Everybody at Leeds wishes Jody all the best for the future."
