The 30-year-old was due to undergo a medical at Leeds' Thorp Arch training ground today.
"I'm hoping we can wrap that up in the next 24-48 hours," confirmed Blackwell after watching his side notch their first away win of the season at Plymouth.
"If we do it will be a very big addition to the club.

Blackwell has made no secret of his wish to bring Gregan, a former Darlington and Preston midfielder, to United and although Gregan is ready to make the switch, Leeds and West Brom have been some way apart with regards a fee.
