Guiseley 1 Leeds United 5 (Dallas 1, 27, Antonsson 33, Erwin 58, 89)

Stuart Dallas and Lee Erwin both netted braces as Leeds United ran out 5-1 winners at Nethermoor Park.

Once again head coach Thomas Christiansen fielded a different team in either half for the second match running.

Backed by a large following of fans, getting to see the Whites in action for the first time ahead of the 2017/18 season, Leeds made the perfect start, when Dallas found the back of the net inside 22 seconds, with a delightful strike into the top corner.

Pablo Hernandez was next to go close for Leeds, the ball fell kindly to him on the edge of the box and his effort went just over the crossbar.

Eunan O’Kane then did well in midfield, he looked to play Marcus Antonsson through on goal, but Jonny Maxted made a good save to prevent the striker an opportunity.

Kemar Roofe felt he should have had a penalty in the 26th minute, he did well to cut inside and dribble into the box, before being brought down, but the referee waved away the protests.

However a minute later the Whites extended the lead, Luke Ayling did well to break into the box before putting in a low cross, which eventually fell to Dallas and he found the top right corner for a second time.

That two goal cushion lasted less than a minute though, when A Trailist managed to beat United stopper Rob Green with a fine effort just inside the box, which found the top corner.

The Whites did restore their two goal lead in the 33rd minute, Hernandez made a fine run into the Guiseley penalty area, before playing the ball across goal, leaving Marcus Antonsson with a simple finish.

Tyler Denton then did well to get to the byline as Leeds pushed for a fourth, he picked out Roofe in the box, but he was denied by Guisley stopper Maxted.

Antonsson was next to be denied by the goalkeeper, his header at a corner was well saved as Leeds went into the break with a 3-1 advantage.

Half Time: Guiseley 1-3 Leeds United

As with the first half, Leeds almost made the perfect start to the second, Souleymane Doukara drove forwards into the box, before playing the ball across goal, but Madger Gomes could only fire over from a narrow angle.

The Whites got their fourth goal in the 58th minute, Hadi Sacko did well down the wing before providing a low cross and Lee Erwin provided a lovely finish into the bottom corner.

Ten minutes later Sacko again continued to threat, this time he picked out Gomes, but Guiseley defender Daniel East did really well to prevent a fifth.

Gomes then tried his luck from range, but he was unable to direct his effort on target.

United wrapped up the win with a minute to spare, Souleymane Doukara fired a long range effort at goal, which goalkeeper Joe Green could only parry and Erwin tapped home the rebound, to cap off a good afternoon for the Whites.
