Heath's career started with Leicester, where he progressed through their academy, and he moved to Coventry for an undisclosed fee at the start of last season.
The 25-year-old defender made 25 league outings during his first campaign with the Sky Blues, but he has fallen out of favour this season and his two-year contract at the Ricoh will expire in May.
Wise has been working to improve his defence since taking charge of United last month, and sources in Coventry also suggested Wise is interested in right-back Andrew Whing, who is currently completing a short-term loan with Brighton.
