The 20-year-old was with Halifax Town last season after the Whites allowed him to leave in March.
The central defender, who is a regular in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side, has been training with the Dons.
If manager Jimmy Caldwerwood offers him a contract he would link up with former Leeds colleague Jamie Winter, who joined the Dons last season.
