The Mirror report that owner Massimo Cellino has been disqualified from running the club after the Football League studied the full judgement of his tax evasion conviction in Italy.
He claims he is the victim of a vendetta by the Football League which “wants me gone”.
However, Hockaday, one of two managers sacked by Cellino this season, was having his settlement paid monthly but the most recent payment is believed to have been missed.
There is also disquiet among agents over non-payment of fees they believe they are due.
The club refused to comment but Cellino is due to fly into Britain on Tuesday from Bahrain, where he is seeking new investment for the club.
He plans to appeal the Football League’s demand that he stands down at Elland Road.
