Leeds were also beaten at Swansea at the end of last month, but have lost only three games in the Championship since October.
Howson said: "What we have to do is bounce back like we did after that [Swansea] defeat. A lot of people wrote us off then because we had fallen eight points behind second place. But within a week it was back down to two."
Howson added: "There have been a lot of freak results with teams around us dropping points. After beating us, Swansea didn't win again until Saturday. There will be twists and turns along the way. We just have to focus on our own jobs."
