Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna felt his side were the better team despite defeat to Leeds United. The 4-3 win for the Whites was their first of the campaign and a first defeat for the newly promoted Tractorboys.
Town are one of the surprise packages in the Championship this season and it’s clear to see why given their bright start to the campaign.
But goals from Georginio Rutter, Willy Gnonto, Joel Piroe and Luis Sinisterra saw the Whites turn in an impressive display.
“It was a great game that could have gone either way, and I certainly feel we could have scored more goals than what we did,” McKenna told TownTV. “I thought we were the better team for 90% of the game and in most departments of it, and there were a lot of positives to take and lots of things to build on.
“We know the goals we conceded in the first half were poor ones and we could have done better, but that’s part of the adjustment to the level. We just need to keep going and trust what we’re doing, because there are so many things in that game that should give us confidence to trust in themselves.”
