Kandol's name was absent from the list of squad numbers published by Leeds yesterday, despite the club confirming that he is still their player, and he looks set to cut his ties with Leeds imminently.
The 28-year-old has 12 months remaining on the substantial four-year contract handed to him by former manager Dennis Wise in 2007, but present boss Grayson told Kandol at the end of last season that he was surplus to requirements and free to look for a new club.
United did not intend to demand a fee for a forward who had precious little involvement with their first-team last season and missed a total of seven matches through two different suspensions for violent conduct.
Asked about Kandol's future, Grayson said: "He's still here but there might be more news on that in the next couple of days."
