Gerald Krasner, spokesperson for the group said: "I would rather have done the whole thing quietly without publicity. I only stuck my head above the parapet in response to what others have said.
"Before we came along there were two consortia with Leeds United people in, neither one showed their money or made an offer.
"The second consortium which appeared the other week didn't put an offer on the table either. We're the only people who have a strategy to prove we can survive.
"There are confidentiality agreements in place. When the deal is done, the names will be announced."
Krasner's collective, who are being advised by former Bradford City chief Geoffrey Richmond, are the only interested party currently left in the running.
Krasner has also ruled out any thoughts of cashing in on Elland Road or the club's training facility at Thorp Arch.
"My main message to the fans is to judge us on what we do rather than on the current speculation," Krasner said.
"Our plans have been disclosed to the club and we only envisage playing football at Elland Road.
"We want to get the club off the finance pages and back onto the football pages.
"Our aim is to come off the life support machine and bring care and consolidation to the club."
