Leeds United have appointed Chris Armas as new assistant head coach, subject to obtaining a work permit.
The 50-year-old, former USA international adds further experience to Jesse Marsch’s backroom staff.
Armas enjoyed a successful playing career in Major League Soccer, with LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire, playing alongside Marsch at the latter.
After his retirement from playing, Armas served as assistant to Marsch from 2015-2018 at New York Red Bulls, before becoming head coach after Marsch departed for RB Leipzig.
Armas spent two years in charge of New York Red Bulls, whilst also had managerial experience with fellow MLS outfit Toronto FC.
Last season, Armas spent time as an assistant at Manchester United, working under Ralf Rangnick.
He is expected to be in the dugout for Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup round four tie at Accrington Stanley.
