Leeds United have told Liverpool that they want £15million for midfielder Lee Bowyer.
Gerard Houllier is hoping to land Bowyer but his previous transfer dealings have suggested that he will not pay over the odds for a player or be involved in any bidding wars when top stars become available.
With only a short time to run on his contract before he could leave on a Bosman, Liverpool would be unwilling to pay £15million, if the reports are accurate.
