Season-ticket holders in parts of the West Stand will have to pay £669, compared with the £550 it cost them for this campaign.
It will be an "executive" area, though no improvements are planned until 2005, when the plastic seats will be replaced by leather ones.
The policy contrasts with that at Leicester City, who announced yesterday they were freezing ticket prices as a reward for their loyal supporters", but the Leeds managing director David Richmond appears to have calculated the increase could make the club an extra £75,000.
Robin Frieze, a West Stand season-ticket holder since the 60s, said: "When I phoned the ticket office to ask what I was getting for my extra £150 the woman explained: 'They're the best seats and he [Richmond] says we haven't been getting enough money for them.'"
A saleswoman said that prices in other parts of the stadium would remain the same and that fans in sections D9 and D10 of the West Stand could relocate if they wanted.
"The last thing we want to do is upset our loyal fans," said David Thompson, head of commercial operations. "Our premium seats elsewhere are going for £800, so we did not think our price was unrealistic."
