The Addicks boss saw his side draw 1-1 with neighbours Gillingham at the weekend, leaving them one point and one place behind league leaders Leeds.
"I think it's good for the rest of the division that they lost," said Parkinson. "Simon will be the first to admit in recent weeks a lot of things have gone for them.
"But you've just got to take your luck when it comes and capitalise on it, which they've done. "(Against Millwall), for whatever reason, it wasn't their day but they're a strong side and I'm sure they'll be one along with many other teams competing for those top two positions."
