Rubery claims Newcastle United are an option for the 25-year-old despite the club not having a manager in place at the moment.
"It wouldn't be true to say Newcastle have missed out on Jermaine because of what is going on there," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"There has been interest from other clubs and I would anticipate something happening soon, maybe in the next couple of weeks when the transfer market begins to start hotting up.
"But it is certainly true Newcastle is still a seriously attractive option for Jermaine."
