The Mirror report that to ensure Blake did not make a transfer window exit, Leeds put a £1.2m figure on his head to put off Wigan and Southampton, who were both rumoured to be interested in the striker.

Instead, Michael Ricketts was loaned out to Cardiff City, leaving Leeds with Blake, Rob Hulse, David Healy, Richard Cresswell and Ian Moore as the strikers battling it out for the two places up front.

Moore himself attracted some interest from Plymouth, whilst midfielder Jermaine Wright was linked with Millwall and defender Matthew Kilgallon with Barnsley.

Kevin Blackwell has admitted to recently turning down enquiries for 12 of his players, with four of them Premiership clubs.
