Martyn played superbly as The Whites moved within two points of relegation rivals Blackburn Rovers, Portsmouth and Manchester City with last night's 1-1 draw against Everton.
They would have won easily had it not been for the outstanding Martyn. The ex-United favourite pulled off a string of saves to keep his old team-mates out.
Martyn said in the YEP: "If they can play like that they have every chance of staying up. They showed plenty of commitment and created enough chances to have won the game 3-1 or 4-1.
"Eddie's really got them going and their work-rate and closing down was phenomenal from all over the park. Dom Matteo and Lucas Radebe worked hard in the middle and it was a tough game for us.
"I'm very relieved. It just seemed to be one attack after another, but we stood up well. Our centre-backs did well because there aren't many better partnerships than Smith and Viduka.
"I'm a professional and I have to do my job," he added. "It was hard going and I thought Leeds were fantastic apart from a 20-minute spell in the first half.
"Even though it was such an important night the Leeds fans were tremendous."
