Martyn's agent, Phil Graham, told BBC Radio Leeds: "I can confirm there is serious interest from Chelsea.Nigel wants first-team football and long-term security, so those two things would have to be considered."

Peter Reid, however, has reportedly spoken to Martyn who assured him that he was happy to stay and challenge Paul Robinson for the No.1 spot.Martyn could also find himself back in favour as Robinson still appears to be linked with a move away from Elland Road.

The London club were willing to pay £500k for the England international, but this was deemed a derisory offer for a player capped 23 times by his country.

With Roman Abramovich holding the Chelsea purse strings, and having already paid £6m for a rookie defender (Glen Johnson from West Ham), not to mention interest in nearly every player on the globe, maybe Leeds should hold out for a few million!
