Some supporters turned on the players when they refused to take a pay-cut last week to help save Leeds from going into administration.
They defused the row by finally accepting a wage deferral to secure the club's future for the rest of the season.
"Things have been said about the players but it's time to pull together," said Matteo in The Mirror. "What happened in the last two weeks is finished with now.
"The fans have been fantastic all season and we want them to get behind us against Boro.
"It's a massive game and we all need to stick together now."
