McNeill, a former assistant boss at Chelsea for five years during the early 80s and brought to Elland Road by Bates in February, lists Kerry Dixon, Pat Nevin, David Speedie and Nigel Spackman amongst his famous finds.
"There's been a lot of changes at Leeds, but the point is Ken is happy with Kevin Blackwell," McNeill said.
"When Ken first arrived at Leeds he was looking to make the step back up in two or three years.
"He wants to do it properly and won't take any short cuts and the aim is to take them a step nearer next year."
