Venables will also be without skipper Dominic Matteo for longer than he anticipated, the Scotland international is to travel abroad to see a specialist in an effort to overcome an ongoing knee injury.
"Dom Matteo is going to be out for a while still. He has seen a specialist and it's fair to say he won't be back in the team in the near future," said the Leeds boss.
"It's going to take a little longer than we thought. We'll just have to bear with it."
