Blackwell said: "Danny is a young up-and-coming player and as you know we had James Milner playing on the left hand side last season even though he is a right footed player.
"We won't have Jermaine Pennant either, so we can now move James back into that right-wing position and hopefully that will help him too. We want players to feel comfortable in their positions and want James to be allowed to flourish."
With the standard of the First Division below that of the Premiership, Milner should get more opportunities to excell and be a key player next season for The Whites.
