The Scotland international only returned to action five weeks ago after three months out with a knee injury and just last week announced he was to retire from international football.
Matteo's latest injury setback came towards the end of the 1-0 home win over West Ham at Elland Road on Saturday.
"I was determined to play because the knee felt better than it has done for a while, but then to get the hamstring injury just about sums it up for me," said Matteo.
"I just turned to chase the ball and as I did I stopped because I felt my hamstring go a bit. It didn't feel good at all."
