The 25-year-old striker has 12 months left on his current deal and his agent had hinted he was prepared to move on if a new deal was not forthcoming.
But Leeds chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "I've actually spoken with Jermaine's agent. We will be forwarding an offer of a new contract to Jermaine now that our divisional status is known.
"I understand Jermaine's desire to have his future resolved but I think there's plenty of time for us to resolve this matter over the summer."
Beckford has scored 54 goals in 99 appearances for the club since signing from Wealdstone in 2006 and has attracted the interest of other clubs.
