Kevin Blackwell said: "When I was driving to work last season there were times when I half expected the gates to the training ground to be locked. The club was supposed to be 'living the dream' under the old regime but the nightmare has turned out to be longer than the dream.
"I regret the departure of so many quality players from the club but the alternative would have left us with no Leeds United at all. Even the club cat is new this year and we have to show him where the milk saucer can be found."
Valencia are now managed by former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri and United will be looking for a decent performance following the midweek defeat at Mansfield and goalless draw at Oldham last night.
He added: "It is good to have Valencia here. They are a top quality team and it is also a chance for our new players to find out where to park their cars and get a feel for the place before our first match against Derby next month."
