Bates told Yorkshire Radio: "We explained to both clubs that we don't deal in petty cash, they were Premier League clubs as well. We don't want to sell Fabian.
"He's happy, we're happy for him to stay and unless something unexpected out of the blue happens which we can't forecast we want him to take us back into the Premier League."
