The striker has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the start of October, missing Leeds' last eight Sky Bet Championship matches.
United will be delighted to welcome him back after loanee Dexter Blackstock returned to parent club Nottingham Forest on Tuesday having suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Leeds assistant manager Nigel Gibbs told the club's official website: "Hopefully Noel Hunt will join in with training next week.
"He is rehabbing really well. He has been outside running and working really hard so we are looking forward to getting him back in the group next week."
Hunt arrived at Elland Road from Reading over the summer and has made a total of eight league starts, although he is still to find the net.
