The Whites have been in negotiation with Brighton but are yet to finalise an agreement, but he is expected to complete a move before the start of pre-season training on July 3.
Carole has represented France at every level up to Under 19 as well as playing 3 times for Monaco, scoring one goal.
He also made two appearances for West Ham during a three-month loan spell during the 2003/04 season.
Albion will almost certainly want a fee for Carole but the 23-year-old has only 12 months remaining on his contract at the Withdean Stadium, and he would be available on a free transfer next summer.
Carole can operate in the centre of midfield, but Leeds could see the youngster as a solution to their problems on the right wing.
The midfielder scored at Elland Road during Brighton's 3-3 draw last season, and his arrival would add much needed attacking flair to the team.
