Radebe Deserves Pay-Day

The South African, 35 next month, is due a pay-day at the end of this season following 10 years at Elland Road.

But he is out of contract in the summer and new chairman Gerald Krasner wants to slash the wage bill.

Fans’ spokesman John Boocock said: "Lucas deserves the chance to say a proper goodbye. There aren’t many players these days that give virtually their whole career to one club and he’s been one of the best."

He is an ambassador for S.O.S. Children's Villages in South Africa, for South Africa's 2010 World Cup bid and was honoured by the both FIFA and the Premier League for his work in the community, which has seen him head several reading and literacy campaigns.

Lucas has made over 200 appearances since his £250k move from Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa, and would have made twice as many had his career not been hampered by serious injuries.
